Infinity

“Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” Psalms 90:2. https://www.bible.com/bible/111/PSA.90.2

We look at the mountains, the oceans, and the sky and try to grasp the idea of infinity. Yet those are not even close to the immensity of Your eternality. You designed them all. The last speck of dirt placed on the mountaintop, the seemingly endless waves, and the stars shining in the night sky.

All of creation is not enough to help us see how You could even bother with us.

You stepped into Your creation to show how much You love us. You presented yourself as a human so our finite hearts could catch a glimmer of understanding. You didn’t have to create us at all, yet You wanted us.

We took all Your gifts of logic, thought, and knowledge and used them to kill You. Throughout time as we know it, we have blasphemed Your name. Spit upon Your existence. Told lies and exaggerations. All to prove our superiority.

We come back to You. Grudgingly. Unwillingly. Kicking and screaming with every step. We hate our inability to explain You out of existence, yet there You are. Waiting patiently.

Some never move from that state of denial. Some will acknowledge Your part in history and then dismiss You as irrelevant. Others will try to use You as a crutch or a bat to beat others.

A few will discover that You are who You said You are. We will fall in love with You and trust our lives to Your plans. We will understand that infinity awaits all of us beyond death’s door.

Whether it is an infinity with You or without You is entirely up to each one of us.
