Being a mom to adult children is… interesting. My kids both graduate college this year. Anne has already wrapped up and Patrick will be done by December. They still ask me questions, but now they involve finances or job decisions instead of homework or where a toy got put. I miss their days of wanting to hold my hand or snuggle beside me.
Every generation notes that the world their child is venturing into is very different from what they experienced, which is no different from how I feel. Our society today is convoluted. What once was clear has become hazy. Lines have been crossed and recrossed so often that the underlying line is almost impossible to see. It is still there, though, and I can only pray that my children will find it for themselves and firmly know what side to stand on.
Congratulations to both of my children on becoming responsible adults. You have had differing paths to reach this point; I am proud of both of you.
